Power of Words

I have had time to think and reflect on my life for the past two weeks and…..OH WHAT A REVELATION!!!! I am writing to you about the power of words. I have been in a car accident, had natural child birth, had broken bones, and had other painful physical ailments….but nothing compares to the physical, mental and spiritual impact of words.
In the beginning, God gave Adam authority in his speaking. Adam was given the commission to name the animals. In Genesis 1:28, God gives Adam and Eve the commission to "be fruitful and multiply." The academic mind will interpret that to mean to have children, or to populate the earth. I believe that to be true, but there is deeper meaning in that scripture. My spirit tells me that God gave that commandment to all of the descendants of Adam (me and you too) to "be fruitful and multiply." He is commanding us to plant seeds of godliness, pureness, genuineness, prosperity, forgiveness, wisdom, love, sacrifice, etc.
We are commanded to plant these things so that they may multiply about the earth. How do I plant it? We must begin with our minds. Think on good things. Colossians 3:2 tells us to, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Think on the good things and not the bad. Being in relationships can be difficult because you are dealing with another adult human being that you have no control over. It is natural instinct to first get offended and then to be defensive when disagreements arise. Due to environmental influence, we have been conditioned to focus on the negative (no matter how small) and to overlook the positive. Think on good things. Phillippians 4:6-8 states, "6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
Next, Speak/Write those good things. Many people mock the famous religious chant, "Name It and Claim It!!" When I began to develop a personal relationship with God, I accepted the right to authority. I tapped into my spiritual gifts (we all have them) and I started the "Name It and Claim It!!!" phenomenon all over again. I must be clear; this is not a game of "I Dream of Jeanie!" Just because you want a Mercedes, and your FICO score is equivalent to your age, you cannot just "Name and Claim" that Mercedes. I am speaking on those strongholds in your life and those hindrances that are deafening your ears to your Father. You should have the ability to take authority over those things. You should have the ability to take authority of insecurities, depression, bad habits. "Naming It and Claiming It," should not be about material things, but about internal things. It should be about healing and overcoming.
Finally, you must have a genuine heart and faithfulness towards the Word and the Will of God. God commands us to be sincere and to faith in our efforts. 2 Corinthians 1:9 states, "But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead." Hallelujah!!!!! There is so much meaning in that scripture. 2 Corinthians 1:12 states, "For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward." Be sincere in your efforts and God will honor you and give you an advantage. Pastor Andre Landers preached last Wednesday about the advantage in God. Leviticus 26:3-13 solidifies the advantage in God when one lives and speaks a life of sincerity and genuineness. Leviticus 26:3-13 states 3 " 'If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, 4 I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land.
6 "'I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. 7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. 8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you.
9 " 'I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. 10 You will still be eating last year's harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. 11 I will put my dwelling place [a] among you, and I will not abhor you. 12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. 13 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high."
Oh, He can do it!!!!!! I am a living, breathing, walking, testimony to it. He can do it!! I have peace in my storm.
I can go on and on about the power of words and the effects that they (words) have over our life. Think good things, speak good things, have a sincere heart and remain faithful and God will give you an advantage.
