Glory!!

I went to the Atlanta Zoo on Tuesday, the King Center on Wednesday and to the Georgia Aquarium today. Visiting the city's attractions was such a spiritual experience for me as I watched God's Glory at work and learned the true meaning of worship. During those moments, I began to question my purpose.

At the Atlanta Zoo, I watched the meerkats in their man-made habitat at work. Each one of them had their own personality and individual responsibility in their specific social group. I watched the lion and his lioness protect their territory with their tanned manes and dominating roars.
Although I had visited the King Center as a child and had participated in every single Black History Program in elementary school, I was somehow speechless at the works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his colleagues during the civil rights movement. I thought of the harsh treatment and suffering of minorities during the civil rights movement and I wondered if the spirit of Dr. King and those who have lost their lives in the fight of civil rights is at rest. I wonder if the spirit of the civil rights movement is pleased with progress of minorities, more specifically, African-Americans. I wonder if their purpose has prevailed.
During my visit at the Georgia Aquarium, I learned that there are over 200,000 different species of fish and that 300 new species are discovered each year. I watched the Reef/Day Octopus as it attached itself to a rock and camouflaged its color and texture to blend in with its environment. I watched the Beluga whales swim effortlessly throughout the water. I learned of three different species of jellyfish and that their sole purpose is to offer balance to ocean life. Interestingly, jellyfish do not have eyes, a heart or a brain, but they have purpose.
I pondered on the above mentioned and I began to cry out, God your Glory is evident in these events and animals, but is your Glory evident in me? I have been searching for purpose and direction in this life. The Glory of God has been in my presence all the while. The Glory of God is simply praising Him and worshipping Him in what He has created you to be and do. For example, to God be the Glory when we see a bird flying high in the sky. God gave birds wings for a reason, TO FLY!!! That is the glory of God. A bird is in its GLORY when it is flying high in the sky.
Through the teachings of Dr. Myles Monroe, I am learning that worshipping is not about going to Bible study on Wednesday's and to church on Sunday's. Worshipping is not about Praise and Worship service. Worshipping is about exhibiting the true Glory of God through work. What do I mean by work? The base word of worship is work. God gave us all gifts. The gifts are not to be hidden for our lifetime so that we may worship Him in our graves. They were given to us so that we may worship Him and receive His rewards in this life.
I am committed to true worship. My true worship should be evident in my journaling and writings daily. I am committed to true worship as I am teaching children and sharing my wisdom, love and talents with children everyday. I am challenging you to commit to true worship by recognizing and sharing your talents so that you may give God Glory by flying high like the birds in the sky.
Peace and Love
